HATAKE / Self-Grow Home Farm for Edible Crickets

When food become food ?

Entomophagy-the practice of eating insects, is a new concept to the Western world that opens up this days.

As part of the solution to the Food-Security, insects are very sustain source of protein, but in Western society there is still a reluctance. The project examines design as an opportunity to bridge over gaps between:
a well-established cultural perception and an innovative response, between the urban-western space and nature, between humen and the natural food he grows at home.
The farm is a natural ecosystem that integrates into the architectural space of the house and creates an interaction between the crickets and the grower.
The product calls us to criticize the conduct of food industry, and also to adopt a sustainable lifestyle by creating an energetic circle of food consumption at home. The farm provides a cutting-edge solution to contemporary Western culture discourse and presents innovative ways of thinking about food and consuming culture.
